The Sunshine Bay Yacht Club (SBYC) is a gem in Alberta's recreation world and Alberta's Sailing Community of Choice.  The club is nestled in a private, secure and secluded peninsula on South Seba Beach - one the best natural harbours on Lake Wabamun. The perfect refuge for cruising sail in a natural and rustic environment! SBYC is a not-for-profit organization governed by an elected board dedicated to promoting the sport of sailing with a solid Strategic Plan for our future longevity.

Our club is unique in the friendly, positive, and supportive environment that it offers to both experienced sailors and new comers to this sport. Families are welcome. Organized races are held on weekends in the spring and fall and Wednesday evenings in the summer - allowing skippers to hone their sailing skills. Fun and informal weekend regattas are also held throughout the summer.

The Club House

Nestled between the east and west docks our clubhouse provides a perfect meeting place and shelter for our members when sunny days turns grey, storm cells roll across the bay, or when just to escape from the elements.

Our facility is a testament to the devotion of the members to our club and the sailing community on Lake Wabamun. Construction of the clubhouse began in 2001. All labour was done as a team effort of the membership under the expert leadership and of Hans Brand. The structure was completed in the summer of 2006. Just in time for our 25th Anniversary Celebration.

The Clubhouse is fully equipped with kitchen, dining area, caretakers facilities, mens and ladies washrooms with showers.

The main seating area has a spectacular view of the bay. Evenings can be spent inside around the wood burning fireplace or on the deck enjoying the sunsets.

Facilities at SBYC include:

  • Storage sheds

  • Large parking lot, secured by locked gates

  • Parking area for holiday trailers (limited space - available on request)

  • Clubhouse with kitchen facilities, washroom and showers

  • Floating docks

  • Large picnic area and gazebo with gas BBQ's, picnic tables and a fire pit

  • Two large floating dock sections, with moorage for boats of varying lengths up to 30'
