Despite the cool weather on Saturday and following a brief postponement we were able to
run the Single handed race starting at 12: 33 instead of 11:00 am. Thanks to my helper Dan Clarke on the committee boat and to EYC lending us their marks and flags. It only
took us two hours to run the race after the rain stopped. The wind picked up for most of
the race without major shifts coming from the NW allowing us to set a pretty good course.
Great turn out from SBYC, out of the nine boats entering the race we had seven boats
from our club. A close battle in the first half of the fleet and I hope that lots of learning for those who came at the back of the fleet. Having said this, while we have this race and with the experience in our heads, we should meet for a post-race briefing session at the club this coming up weekend for an hour. Let me know if around 7:00 pm. on Saturday at the clubhouse will work for most of you? Of course all of the members interested are also invited. It would be nice to have a Flip Chart with stand available, making it easier to show and explain some of the situations that happened on the water. If somebody can bring one, it would be great.
